Summary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or review of Federal and state tax returns in compliance with statutory requirements, including the establishment of supporting documentation and workpapers.
  • Prepare and/or review of quarterly US tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 740), including the establishment of supporting documentation and workpapers.
  • Prepare and/or review reconciliations of tax returns to tax provisions, including evaluations of differences and adjustments to the associated tax accounts.
  • Monitor and maintain, as necessary, internal controls over the Company’s accounting and financial reporting for income taxes.
  • Facilitate and manage external auditor reviews and audits of the Company’s accounting for income taxes and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Review sales and property tax returns.
  • Assist with managing federal and state tax audits.
  • Manage third party tax advisors.
  • Other federal and state projects as assigned.
  Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax from accredited college or university required, advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA also preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in either public accounting or energy company tax groups. 
  Skills & Experience
  • Experience with consolidated US corporate tax returns.
  • Experience with accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for income taxes.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Effective management techniques and ability to work effectively within a team of peers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment, a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and ability to operate successfully under ambiguous guidelines.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and ability to diplomatically handle confrontation.
