Our central Houston, well established client has a great opportunity for a staff accountant. This role has a hybrid work schedule and great benefits. This company will consider a new graduate! The Staff Accountant will assist with a variety of accounting functions, ensuring timely processing of various transactions and preparation of reconciliations and reports. The Staff Accountant will assist with a variety of accounting functions, ensuring timely processing of various transactions and preparation of reconciliations and reports. Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Assist with reconciling and preparing various month end workpapers
- Prepare daily cash reports
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare month-end close journal entries including routine transactions, adjusting reclass entries, and allocation entries with minimal supervision
- Maintain and update various month-end roll-forwards and account reconciliation schedules
- Assist in the preparation of audit and tax requested work papers, including all requested support
- Identify opportunities to improve financial and operational systems and cost effectiveness
- Promote teamwork and quality of service through daily communication and coordination with the various departments
- Partner cross-functionally to understand business transactions and ensure that transactional activities are complete and coded accurately
- Consistently look to implement efficiencies in processes and procedures by making recommendations to the Controller
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 0-3 years of accounting experience
- Pursuing a CPA license a plus
- Knowledgeable in GAAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word and Excel
- Great Plains experience a plus but not required
- Detail oriented, organized and ability to solve problems
- Ability to learn and effectively function within a variety of computer systems
- Ability to interact with and assist all departments within the company
