Job Description
SUMMARY: A local Houston Managed Service Provider serving small to mid-size organizations providing systems and network support is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Consultant Engineer with proficiency working with Fortinet's Fortigate for a full-time role. In this role you will provide on-site support to Houston and surrounding area clients as well as work from home 20%-30% after 6 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide end-to-end client support with a broad-based IT background with a technical understanding of networks, protocols, security configurations, and identity and access management.
- Travel to clients daily (Never more than 2).
- Resolve system and application performance issues.
- Communicate and solve problems daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Work within cloud-based technologies such as Microsoft Azure and Office 365 and private cloud offering.
- Deploy on-premises and cloud-based technology solutions utilizing current security best practices.
- Configure and deploy multi-factor authentication technologies such as Microsoft MFA and Cisco Duo.
- Provide hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere.
- Install, configure, maintain, and monitor client server environments with an emphasis on Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.
- Create and maintain internal and client facing documentation.
- Work within a ticketing system.
- Exposure to networking with the ability to troubleshoot common networking issues.
- Design, configure, maintain, and monitor WAN and VPN connections to remote divisions requiring a core knowledge of Thin Client, TCP/IP, IPSEC, SSL, RDP and VPN protocols.
- Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Analyze company and user needs and recommending appropriate solutions to meet requirements or enhance performance while maintaining company standards

- Find ways to create value for my clients in the solutions that are designed and implemented.

- Consistently develop appropriate technical solutions based on the clients' requirements, tied to Business Goals, and have conviction and commitment to the solution.
- Present concepts, ideas, and data in a convincing manner that allows the listener to gain enough information to decide.
- Understand and review the outcome of projects and high-priority service requests with clients during quarterly reviews. I am prepared to deliver positive or negative results in a way that provides a road to future success.
- Identify key risks with business processes and technical solutions and offer recommendations to executives for mitigating and reducing corporate risk.
- Lead and manage the implementation of the projects as defined in the technology roadmap.
- Utilize account reviews to confirm my role as a trusted advisor, establish new contacts, and drive deeper and wider relationships.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum five, ideally ten, years’ experience in a systems focused engineer role
- 2+ years’ experience with exposure to network environments, both cloud and on-premises
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, IIS, and Remote Desktop as well as Microsoft Exchange, both on-premises as well as with Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or Microsoft Azure Certification is preferred
- Willingness to earn technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Fortinet, etc.) is preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Administrator or Professional (CCNA or CCNP) is a plus
- ConnectWise Manage ticketing experience a plus
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university in Information Systems or Engineering preferred but not necessary
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with an enthusiastic achievement driven attitude

- Firewalls/switches (Cisco, Fortinet, HP, and Meraki experience preferred) Windows 7 and greater
- MS Office 2013/2016/2019 and O365/M365
- Security and antivirus products (TrendMicro, ESET and Symantec experience preferred) Spam filtering technologies (Barracuda and O365 experience preferred)
