Summary: 
Contract Senior Accountant needed in West/SW Houston for 6 month assignment.

Very hybrid schedule with 2 days in office and 3 from home!
The Contract Accountant plays an important role in supporting the Financial Accounting team at our client.  The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the company’s deadlines are met with accuracy and completeness of performed duties. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare monthly sales & use tax filings and other statutory, regulatory or legal filings as required.
  • Prepare and review internal control matrices for tax processes / procedures.
  • Perform multistate tax research and prepare written communications for various topics in state tax.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate income tax return filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of property tax renditions.
  • Participate in the monthly accounting close.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts; review to determine the need for corrections, reclassifications and adjustments.
  • Assist supporting staff and management with analysis and related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules to support the interim and year-end audit.
  • Adhere to effective internal controls.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, with at least 2 years in tax accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including application.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle NetSuite) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.  Ability to manage and manipulate data across multiple systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA license and/or graduate business degree.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite).
  • Energy industry experience.
