SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
CENTRAL HOUSTON Hybrid Schedule – 3 days work from home + 2 days in office
Overview:

Summary:

Responsible for segment accounting and reporting of operational results. Work closely with operations and management to provide support and analysis. The role will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the accounting department for one of the business units. The primary responsibilities will include reconciliations of accounts, month end close, account analysis, and the preparation of financial results to management.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Fully responsible for segment balance sheet and income statement.
  • Review and analyze financial results on a vessel level to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances/ amounts for reporting purposes and work with operations on obtaining explanations for significant fluctuations actual vs. prior period and budget/forecast.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
  • GL accounting, reconciliation, review, and analysis.
  • Month end accruals and accounting for business unit.
  • Monitor and analysis of financial results (work closely with operations).
  • Participate in the budgeting and reforecasting process.
  • Assist with internal/ external financial, internal controls and operational audits.
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc reports, as required.
  • Report on project profitability, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Assist accounting department/Controller with other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and understanding of financial statements.
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience Workday a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dynamic personality.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong decision making and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties.
