Job Description

SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for a contract to hire opportunity.  In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing IT projects within a backend agile tower at
a retail energy provider.  You will be responsible for guiding teams through the Agile process, ensuring alignment with project goals, managing stakeholder expectations, and delivering projects on time and within scope. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers/QAs, business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders, to ensure projects are delivered to the required quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning and Execution:
  • Define and document project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Lead agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure smooth execution.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to manage and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Identify project impediments, removing or escalating them as necessary to maintain team momentum.
  • Coordinate with other agile towers to manage interdependence and ensure alignment across initiatives.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project success.
Retail Energy Industry Knowledge:
  • Develop a solid understanding of the retail energy industry.
  • Understand how regulatory orders impact the energy sector.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience managing IT projects, with a focus on software development or backend
    systems.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an agile environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (eg. Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project).
    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience working in the retail energy industry.
    Experience with large-scale enterprise projects.
    Knowledge of database systems and API
