Job Description

Our client is a rapidly growing and extremely successful equities hedge fund with offices in both New York and Houston. They seek a Big 4 Assurance professional with one to three years of experience to join their team and work in the Houston office. This role is an Operations Associate, and it will engage in anything and everything necessary to support the overall operation of the Houston office in addition to helping the CFO (who is based in NY) prepare and present all of the financials for board and investor reporting. The team is small, high powered, collaborative, and entrepreneurial.  

Role
The individual will report directly to the COO/CFO in New York and be exposed to all aspects of the business, from finance, accounting, and operations to compliance, IT, and marketing. The candidate is expected to help with day-to-day business operations of the firm, including, but not limited to, booking trades, enhancing automation, reconciliations, quarterly/annual RFIs, daily and monthly P&L as well as assisting with compliance related activities. This is an opportunity to grow with a firm.
The candidate should have a strong operations background, with an ability to analyze and automate workflows, while at the same time possessing strong communication and organization skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Trade bookings and settlement
  • Daily portfolio and cash reconciliation
  • Counterparty relationship setup and maintenance
  • Collateral and securities lending management
  • Risk and regulatory reporting
  • Daily reporting compilation and review for investment team
  • Month-end pricing compilation and review
  • Monthly net asset value package reconciliation and review of the from external administrator
  • Calculate and reconcile investor and fund level returns
  • Assist with the preparation of the fund financial statements and tax returns

Ideal Candidate Characteristics:
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or other related fields
  • 1 – 3 years of public accounting, direct hedge fund, or fund administration experience required
  • Robust knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, understanding VBA and/or Python is a plus
  • Analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Ability to problem solve to ensure projects deadlines are met
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, likes to roll up their sleeves
  • Strong work ethic and intellectually curious
