Job Description

Our drilling client is seeking a Logistics Specialist for a year project at their Galleria office. 

Experience
  • A minimum of  5 to 10  years of operational logistics position experience in Oil & Gas, Worldwide logistic, Freight forwarding, Trade
  • At least 3 years of experience solving materials and heavy equipment logistics challenges for remote locations
  • Experiences in logistics spend management / cost control
  • Understanding of the Mexico Trading Laws and Regulations, including Compliances provisions
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administering the company’s import and export compliance program and working with the Global Logistics manager, Trade Compliance Corporate department and the Legal  Department ( if required ) to insure controls are in place that comply with the company’s legal and regulatory obligations in Mexico.
  • Providing " in real time " assistance to all rigs upon requirement, whatever it can be, emergency shipments, customs questions, missing supplier documents or information.
  • Mobilize and manage internal and external logistics resources to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries of required materials at lowest total system cost. Monitoring Import / Export operations.
  • Provide responsive logistics services for emergency situations
  • Identify inefficiencies and areas of growth within current distribution network to continuously improve the balance between the level and cost of service
  • Mainly responsible for maintaining daily follow-up of Export & Import files in all Business Units and insure efficient,cost effective and timely delivery of the material to the final destinations.
  • In charge of Rig’s mobilization and demobilization between countries / projects in terms of customs, logistics when requested and assist with their implementation
  • Control documents necessary for the importation and for exportation in the various countries ( Pedimentos, Invoices + Packing list + Certificates of origin etc….) interfacing with freight forwarders / carriers / suppliers and procurement departments & Ensco bases worldwide.
  • Keep a close follow-up of all kinds of issues, mainly Customs and Tax exemption in Mexico.
  • Provide assistance with 3PL  Services & Audits
  • Assisting the operational departments and rig sites to finding alternate logistic solutions
  • Providing assistance for special projects in terms of budgeting logistic costs, clarifying procedures
  • Interfacing for all kinds of issues between forwarding agents / shipping agents / customs brokers / packers / carriers / suppliers / rig sites or area offices / corporate office.
  • Auditing the fields in regard to the recordkeeping of Customs Import and Export documents and their compliance with local regulations.
  • Following Customs rules and regulations are complied with for each and every supplier delivering equipment for shipment.
  • Provide assistance and follow-up for all equipment Imported under the Temporary Importation Status and its related pedimentos.
  • Coordinate with Trade compliance dpt. And ensure that all equipment returned is 100% in line with Customs and Tax rules and regulations and Pedimentos closeout
  • Provide assistance  and perform other daily duties assigned by Logistics Supervisor.
  • Administering the company’s import and export compliance program

Minimum Requirements for this position
  • Be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs ( 30 % min. )
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the worldwide logistic & Customs matters
  • Excellent network of freight forwarders throughout the Europe and Mediterranean and globally
  • Excellent availability for urgent matters and emergency issues
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations
  • Ability to manage different logistic projects at the same time and meet deadlines
  • Ability to figure out logistic budgets and timings and to meet them
  • Ability to recognize and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to charter and discuss the contracts for aircrafts or vessels
  • Ability to obtain, compare and discuss all kinds of transport and handling rates worldwide
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Available and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
  • Committed to a high standard of safety and will and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer’s safety policies and rules. Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

  • PC proficiency required.  Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office software suite version.
  • Perform duties onsite, except those job duties which are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (such as off-site meetings with customers at their request or for marketing purposes, making deliveries to designated destinations, traveling to field offices to meet with superiors/peers/subordinates or attend/conduct training, etc).
  • Work effectively alone or as part of a team on projects.
