Job Description

As the IT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the technical and business aspects of the company’s operations. This hybrid role will oversee technology management across the organization. You will manage relationships with third-party vendors, oversee cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, technology support and business applications, and ensure systems are optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, and security. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of the trade-offs between performance, cost, and scope.
Key Responsibilities:
  • IT Strategy & Leadership:
    • Develop and execute IT strategies that align with the business objectives of each company in the portfolio.
    • Act as the primary IT point of contact for the leadership team, translating business requirements into technology solutions.
    • Lead IT initiatives, including cloud migration (Azure platform), cybersecurity, data management, and system integrations.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Management:
    • Oversee the management and optimization of cloud-hosted systems, including specialized applications like Spotfire for data analytics, GIS, and SQL-based accounting systems.
    • Ensure robust system performance for multi-terabyte databases and business applications that interact with complex data.
    • Manage and improve data flow between applications, cloud platforms, and third-party vendors.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance:
    • Oversee the Implementation and management of cybersecurity strategies to protect the firm’s IT infrastructure, data, and sensitive information, ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
    • Lead vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and IT audits in partnership with third-party cybersecurity auditors.
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans and ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies and IT general controls.
  • Vendor & Relationship Management:
    • Oversee relationships with third-party service providers, including managed service providers (MSPs), virtual CIOs, and database administrators.
    • Manage hardware procurement, including evaluating cost-effective solutions for laptops and other technology needs.
    • Ensure that vendor contracts and services are optimized for cost, service quality, and performance.
  • Project Management & Business Support:
    • Manage IT projects, balancing the needs of the business with available resources, scope, and timeline.
    • Act as a coordinator between IT and business units to ensure IT solutions support business goals and processes.
    • Drive ongoing improvements in IT systems to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs where possible.
  • Team & Process Development:
    • Develop and lead IT, including vendor management through outsourced partners, supporting growth and operational needs across the portfolio companies.
    • Provide leadership and mentoring, cultivating intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Design and improve IT processes to streamline operations and ensure system reliability and scalability.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. (Advanced certifications or degrees are a plus.)
  • Experience:
    • 7-10 years of IT management experience, ideally in a complex, multi-business unit environment 
    • Extensive experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and hands-on experience with data-intensive applications, SQL databases, and business analytics tools like Spotfire.
    • Strong Microsoft platform understanding including O365 and associated tools.
    • Preferred experience managing third party service providers, IT Service desk, and network operations.
    • Previous experience with hardware procurement and evaluating cost-effective IT solutions, including non-data-intensive apps in the cloud.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to translate technical needs into business solutions.
    • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
    • Ability to balance the trade-offs between performance, cost, scope, and response times.
    • Experience overseeing the management of  multi-terabyte databases and integrating applications with cloud environments.
    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity protocols and risk management strategies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
    • Experience in vendor management, including the evaluation of new solutions and contract negotiations.
