Position Summary
The Geoscience Applications Analyst is responsible for the overall development, configuration, maintenance, administration, and technical support of the geoscience-related applications. This role requires exceptional customer service and the willingness to handle any assigned technology tasks, whether simple or complex.  This position reports to the Vice President of Information and Technology. 

Responsibilities

Act as subject matter expert for the geoscience application portfolio.  These applications include, but are not limited to; Aries, Harmony, Entersight, Petra, TKS, EasyCopy, PDL, TGS, Enerdeq and Power BI

Support applications through issue resolution and provide guidance to users using the helpdesk software to ensure issue cause and resolution are fully documented

Provide testing and coordination of scheduled application maintenance, releases, and major version upgrades following the IT change management policy and process

Collaborate with business users to propose and implement ideas to simplify daily activities by leveraging new or existing IT solutions

Gather and document requirements from business users via interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis

Conduct training and develop training content and job aids for employees and staff augmentation team members

Assist in providing reports as necessary to assist business users in answering specific questions

Plan, organize and deliver special IT projects aimed at improving the company’s business activities as requested by IT management

Available 24/7 for critical application system related problems that may arise

Perform other IT support functions as assigned


Qualifications Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering, management information systems or computer science required

A minimum of 5 years of oil & gas industry experience required

Experience in using and managing geoscience focused applications

Ability to manage work priorities and project deliverables for implementations, enhancements, problem resolution and upgrades working with many involved parties (business users, department members, software vendors, staff augmentation partners, etc.)

In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle and change management process

A motivated self-starter who can work independently and in teams on tasks and projects with limited supervision

Ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines addressing both technical and non-technical audiences at a variety of organizational levels

Attention to detail and a rigorous focus on delivering quality output

Ability to work in a fast-paced organization and multi-task

Strong customer service attitude and focus
