ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance function by maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to timely and reliable financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in the monthly close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, while partnering closely with operations and senior accounting team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Perform month-end close procedures for assigned accounts and vessels, including journal entries and reconciliations for cash, prepaid insurance, accruals, payroll, purchase orders, and other expenses.
Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
Compile and analyze financial data to support the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
Review and analyze financial results at the vessel, port, and company level to ensure accuracy and completeness for reporting purposes.
Partner with operations teams to investigate and explain significant variances between actual results, prior periods, and budget or forecast.
Monitor bank accounts and assist with weekly cash flow projections.
Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests.
Assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to help predict future revenues and expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
One to two years of accounting experience, with public accounting audit experience considered a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with an accounting ERP system.
Public accounting experience or CPA credential.
