Job Title: Financial Reporting and Planning Analyst
Job Summary:
Our client is a growing family owned distribution business located near the Heights in Houston. They are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Reporting and Planning Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial
reporting, supporting day-to-day financial operations, and assisting in various accounting and reconciliation processes. This role will require a strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and
experience with general ledger functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monthly Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and distribute accurate monthly financial statements and reports.
• Analyze financial results, including variances from budget, and provide insights into the underlying trends.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
• Report and monitor key performance indicators.
• Forecasting:
• Develop and update financial forecasts based on actual performance, changes in business operations, and market conditions.
• Provide recommendations to management on potential adjustments to achieve financial goals.
• Budgeting:
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, collaborating with department heads to gather necessary data and ensure alignment with company goals.
• Monitor budget performance, identify potential issues, and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Financial Analysis:
• Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and identify areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
• Provide support in analyzing investments, project financials, and ROI calculations.
• Process Improvement:
• Identify and implement process improvements within financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial systems and reporting tools.
• Other:
• Participating in various job duties/responsibilities and special projects as directed or determined on own initiative.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2+ years of experience in public accounting.
• 2+ years of experience (after leaving public accounting) in financial reporting, accounting, or related role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excel Power User.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
• CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
