Job Description

Our DT NPO client company is seeking to add an Employee Relations Specialist. The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for establishing and developing trusted relationships with Agency Leadership, Human Resources Representatives and employees. Leads the day-to-day administration of employee relations matters, including consultation on ER issues for both employees and leadership. The Employee Relation Specialist is responsible for contributing to the Agency’s performance by providing tactical and strategic consulting on people and organization development strategies in support of the Agency objectives. The Employee Relation Specialist will provide support and counsel to employees and leaders on routine employee relations issues, including assisting with policy interpretation, the performance improvement process and related plans, investigations, and terminations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • Assist and guide managers and employees on a broad range of Human Resource policies, programs, and practices.
  • Lead employee relations groups such as employee focus groups, improvement teams to ensure effective and positive relationships between leaders, managers, and employees. 
  • Act as a liaison between employees and Human Resource on relevant Human Resource activities such as disciplinary, grievance, benefits, leaves of absence and other employee related policies guiding and supporting both leaders and employees, in line with policies.
  • Coach and advise departmental leadership in carrying out their responsibilities on employee relations matters.
  • Maintain all HR/employee personnel related to employee relations.
  • Work directly with employees in the organization to explore and assist in determining options to help resolve conflicts and problematic issues.
  • Provide case management services for employee complaints, appeals and investigations.
  • Craft strategies to resolve personnel issues and minimize the adverse personnel impact of proposed business realignments.
  • Ensure that employee matters are handled with consistency, fairness and without discrimination.
  • Handles and advises on performance management issues, including development of performance improvement plans/actions.
  • Assists Human Resource Representative with complex workplace investigations of associate complaints and grievances.
  • Meets regularly with Human Resource team to advise of recent employee relations matters and review department specific analytics.
  • Drive the development of Human Resource related strategies and ensure implementation and execution.
  • Work with leaders to ensure plans are in line with functional business strategy and needs, reviewing as required and recommend changes to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Contribute to the functional plans and objectives by working with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and build capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.
  • Serve as a change agent by influencing key stakeholders in support of organizational effectiveness and Human Resource practices and principles.
  • Provide support and guidance in re-structuring activities, such as redundancy policies, staffing, and outsourcing.
  • Drive the development of Human Resource related strategies and ensure implementation and execution.
  • Contribute to Human Resource projects and initiatives as nominated, bringing expertise, knowledge, and feedback.
  • Provide feedback to influence the continuous improvement of Human Resource services and processes.
  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation program.
  • Coordinates and co-facilitates training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Five (5) years of experience in Human Resources handling employee relations

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws, and best practices into conducting workplace investigations and developing policies.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish credibility and rapport at all levels of an organization.
  • High degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong consultative skills required to identify strategic objectives and to design/ lead of market-based solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems
  • Excellent evaluation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Expertise in the Human Resources discipline.
