Job Description


This role will be onsite in Houston office and temp for 6-12 months with the intention of hiring direct.  

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Data Manager to lead and oversee data management and governance efforts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, reliability, transparency, accessibility, and availability of data across the organization. The Data Manager will work closely with the Director of Data Management & Strategy and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data policies, establish standards, and ensure data integrity to support critical business decisions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented leader passionate about data governance, management, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities
1. Data Governance
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define data standards and establish consistent data management processes.
  • Promote data ownership and accountability across business units as a steward for governance initiatives.

2. Data Quality & Integrity Management
  • Oversee initiatives for data profiling, cleansing, validation, and enrichment.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve data discrepancies, ensuring reliable data for reporting and analytics.
  • Develop and maintain data quality metrics and reporting dashboards.

3. Data Security, Privacy & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with data policies, including security and privacy standards under regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
  • Manage access controls and data permissions, safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Proactively monitor and address risks related to data security and compliance.

4. Data Strategy & Lifecycle Management
  • Align data management practices with organizational objectives and strategic goals.
  • Manage the entire data lifecycle, including acquisition, retention, archiving, and deletion.
  • Evaluate and implement data management technologies to enhance usability and performance.
  • Bring expertise in areas like metadata management, CRUD data lifecycle, Master & Reference Data Management, Data Migration & Integration Governance, and Document & Content Management.

5. Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Act as a liaison across various teams and domains to address data needs and resolve challenges.
  • Provide training and support to promote data fluency and adherence to governance principles across the organization.

6. Reporting & Analytics Support
  • Collaborate with analytics and business intelligence teams to optimize data pipelines and enable accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and validate data for analytics, supporting data visualization and reporting initiatives.
  • Facilitate data discovery for stakeholders, ensuring access to trusted data for decision-making.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Management, Information Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience
  • 5+ years in data management, governance, or a related role, with proven experience leading data teams.
  • Certifications in Data Management (e.g., CDMP) are highly desirable.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with data management tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, data cataloging solutions, data lineage tools).
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and architecture.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Cognos, and data visualization best practices.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing data challenges.
