Our client is a successful, privately held manufacturing company headquartered in East Houston. With a long history of producing high-quality consumer products, the company has experienced significant growth and recently relocated to a new office and manufacturing facility to support its continued expansion.
Due to the planned retirement of a long-tenured accounting leader, the company is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting and finance function. Reporting directly to the President, this is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations and helping build the financial infrastructure of a growing business.
The Controller will lead a small accounting team while partnering with Operations, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Shipping, Inventory, Human Resources, and executive leadership to strengthen financial reporting, improve internal controls, and support continued operational growth.

Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reporting packages for executive leadership.
Supervise and mentor a small accounting team while promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Serve as the accounting leader and trusted business partner to the President and senior leadership team.
Oversee all general ledger activity, account reconciliations, treasury functions, cash management, and banking relationships.
Manage lender reporting requirements and maintain strong banking relationships.
Lead quarterly and annual physical inventory counts and ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
Oversee inventory accounting and maintain strong partnerships with manufacturing and operations to improve inventory accuracy and production reporting.
Manage all aspects of cost accounting, including product costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory controls.
Work closely with operations leadership to analyze manufacturing costs and provide meaningful financial insight to support business decisions.
Continue to strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and financial processes while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
Partner with outside tax advisors to support timely completion of tax filings and compliance requirements.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
Support executive leadership with financial analysis, operational reporting, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA designation strongly preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong cost accounting and manufacturing accounting experience is required.
Experience overseeing inventory accounting and physical inventory processes.
Demonstrated success leading the monthly close process and preparing accurate financial statements.
Previous experience managing and developing an accounting team.
Experience working within an ERP environment is required.
Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvement.
Public accounting experience, particularly in audit or tax, is a significant plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Comfortable working in a hands-on leadership role within a growing entrepreneurial organization.
