ABOUT THE ROLE
The Technical Business Analyst / Product Manager will lead the definition, development, and delivery of digital and data-driven solutions supporting upstream oil and gas investments. This role blends upstream domain expertise, technical fluency, and stakeholder management, with hands-on ownership of requirements, analytics, and product delivery across investment and portfolio company needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own and document detailed business and technical requirements for upstream analytics, reporting, and data platforms
Translate upstream workflows including production, reserves, land, economics, and A&D into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Act as Product Owner for assigned digital initiatives, managing product roadmaps, backlogs, and release priorities
Design, validate, and maintain analytical models, dashboards, and reporting solutions for investment and asset teams
Work directly with structured datasets in relational databases to extract, validate, and analyze data using SQL
Partner with engineering and data teams to support data pipelines, system integrations, and automation initiatives
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across internal and third-party upstream data sources
Support M&A and A&D diligence through technical data analysis, asset-level performance evaluation, and quality-of-earnings support
Develop repeatable diligence frameworks, templates, and analytics to accelerate deal execution
Assist with post-acquisition integration and ongoing portfolio performance tracking
Serve as the primary interface between investment professionals, portfolio company operators, and technical teams
Communicate complex technical findings clearly to business and investment audiences
Manage multiple concurrent initiatives, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced private equity environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, Finance, or a related discipline
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to data quality
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience working with relational databases with required SQL proficiency
Solid understanding of upstream oil and gas data, metrics, and asset evaluation concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and business audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a Technical Business Analyst, Product Manager, or Product Owner role
Python experience
Prior exposure to private equity, investment teams, or upstream portfolio companies
Experience supporting M&A or A&D diligence
Familiarity with upstream systems, data platforms, or analytics
