Location: Houston, TX

Our client is a Houston, Texas based principal investment firm that primarily provides long-term debt and equity capital to lower middle market companies and debt capital to middle market companies. The company’s investments are typically made to support management buyouts, recapitalizations, growth financings, refinancings and acquisitions of companies that operate in diverse industry sectors. The PE firm seeks to partner with entrepreneurs, business owners and management teams and generally provides "one stop" financing alternatives within its lower middle market portfolio. The firm’s lower middle market companies generally have annual revenues between $10 million and $150 million. The firm’s middle market debt investments are made in businesses that are generally larger in size than its lower middle market portfolio companies.

 

Job Description:

The Firm actively invests in lower middle market companies ($3.0 - $20.0 million EBITDA) in diverse market segments across the capital structure. As part of the investment team, you would work directly with senior investment professionals to originate, execute, and manage new investments.

Primary Responsibilities will include:
  • Initial review of opportunities and development of investment thesis and transaction structure
  • Financial modeling and valuation comps
  • Due diligence
  • Participate in negotiations of acquisition documentation
  • Preparation of Investment Committee materials
  • Portfolio management including attendance at portfolio company Board Meetings
  • Active participation in select areas of new business development/transaction sourcing

 

Candidate Background:

The position is a career track opportunity where a MBA is not required to advance. An ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
  • 4-6 years in private equity or investment banking
  • Strong ties to Texas or willingness to relocate to Texas
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and operating models
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Self-motivator who is eager to be given substantial responsibility
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in written formats, and with both internal and external audiences
