Description

The Assistant Controller’s expertise and contributions will directly impact on the company’s ability to meet their financial goals and drive success. As a leader within the company, you must have a good and strong character to ensure high standards are maintained, processes are improved, and efficiencies are gained in a spirit of trust and respect. The ideal candidate will possess a forensic accounting mindset to take full ownership of accounting processes.

Responsibilities include:
 
  • Assist with management of all accounting operations including journal entries and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage a team of 3 direct reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the company.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a strong control environment, enforcing policies and procedures to prevent fraud, and safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee procurement and purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, and driving cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and drive implementation.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Lead and challenge annual audits, working closely with auditors to ensure compliance and resolve any identified issues.
  • Stay updated on accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to management.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of proven progressive experience in accounting.
  • CPA or parts passed is a big plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory control and procurement/purchasing processes.
  • Experience in writing procedures and policies.
  • Exceptional knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP and/or IFRS).
  • Experience with accounting software, emerging technologies, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, forensic accounting mindset, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for accounting processes, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills with non-accounting audiences, such as operations, sales, manufacturing, etc.
