Job Description

SUMMARY:  A large Houston headquartered organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team for a 1 year project with a strong option to be extended.  You will focus on IT Infrastructure and work closely with facilities management for buildouts, development and delivery of long term infrastructure solutions as well as coordination of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing of facilities infrastructure projects.
  • Initial project administration– Assist with recording and documenting in the IT project management data base as needed.
  • Move Coordination Directly responsible for planning and the coordination of all institutional moves and relocations of data and voice equipment in association with these moves. This entails coordination with contractor(s), service provider(s), internal technology support staff, and user(s),
  • Services Request - Create detailed service request/tasks and specifications for all involved IT disciplines to complete the required tasks.
  • Support Coordinates technical support between the customer and technology related support services.
  • Documentation / Status Reports Provide weekly status reports to manager. Ensures project documentation is completed and maintained as the project changes or refines over time.
  • Small/Large/Extra Large Facilities Management projects Works closely together with the Facilities Management department to ensure the IT Infrastructure needs are planned, budgeted, and implemented on time and within budget for renovation and/or new construction projects.
  • Performs Stakeholder analysis in order to determine and gain agreement for the project's business problem, goals and objectives, success factors, planning assumptions, dependencies and constrains, and high level risks. Coordinates, with the project team and project sponsor, the identification of all deliverables, sequence of all activities and tasks necessary to complete the deliverable, the effort required to complete each task, assignment of deliverables to an owner, and cost of each project phase. Incorporates the deliverables in a work breakdown structure.
  • Documents the¬ budget using the project cost worksheet and the schedule using MS Project. Attend meetings virtually.
     
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of IT experience to include three years in project management. May substitute additional years of equivalent experience for required degree on a one to one basis.
     
  • Work with internal teams to get request for proposals for infrastructure hardware (e.g. phones, switches, UPS, WAPs, etc.)
  • Ability to write request for proposal for wireless surveys
  •  Ability to manage cable vendors during construction installation
  • Manage design and implementation of all IT infrastructure for new builds and retrofits, including telecomm, server, desktop and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to work with architects and construction personnel
  • Ability to read blue prints
  •  Ability to walk construction sites and recognize issues with cabling
  • Ability to design small cabling buildouts (20-100 cables)
  • 5 years managing multiple construction projects with $20 Mil – $500 Mil construction budgets
  • 5 years of experience with Visio, Adobe or some other graphic design software
  •  5 years of experience in fiber installations, voice and data networking build outs
  • 5 years of experience managing switch/router deployments
  • 5 years of experience managing telephone deployments
  • 5 years of experience managing wireless access deployments
  • 5 years of experience work with a helpdesk / ticketing system (e.g. Heat, Altiris, Cherwell)
